Nice garden!! I wonder do you? add chicken manure to your compost? If you haven't grown strawberries before... A few words of experience, they send out lots of runners and can take over a garden area very quickly. You may want to keep a close eye on them :)

Way back I worked on a farm with grapes grown for Welch's. They held seminars for the farmers. the 3 main stalks/vines were preferred. The farmer across the road did his with many stalks/vines. When picked and sent to Welch's? the guy across the road had more grapes, but, the sugar content was so low in comparison, the guy I worked for had sky high sugar and subsequently made more money....

sure! when i get the chance i will send you a link. but just to describe how it looks: imagine the silkie without the fluffy down-like feathers or at least not as much as the feathers on their wings have those barbicles, no feathers on their legs but still has 5 toes and still retains the blue earlobes and still has black skin, meat and bones, considerably less "hair"? on the head too.

barred rock are some layers.. best layers I ever had here. The extra roosters are great at 6 months old. check out my "plucker" video. That feed should be great...easy for the little ones digestion.. oh they will come around..... bring some? apples in there...bring bread...2 weeks they will be watching for the treat guy...2-4 weeks...some are different and never like people ...not silkies...they love kids. thats why they breed them..just for fun!

well you have them one day!...every time you go to see them bring them treats and give them time to adjust to thier new home...go to tractor suppy get them treats and cracked corn but feed them 16% layers? mash....soon they will run to you when they see you....and make happy noises when you get home...don't corner them and when they freak out ...back out and give them space...the rooster will friend you first so butter him up with treats!....worms,treat blocks.

They are the best little broody hens I have ever had...I have had them hatch out all kinds of birds...great? birds !! lay great eggs also...plus they are the nicest birds for kids...mine run to me when I am out in the yard! IF THEY ARE VACCINATED DONT FEED MEDICATED..feed them 16% crumbles..if not vaccinated feed them medicated chic strater for 8 weeks then 16% crumbles..I don't let chicks out unless I am there to supervise the entire time..after they are full grown watch them.

The suspended ceiling is better for basements where you need to get to plumbing, electric, AC heating that is the advantage. I have installed it before as long as you get each brace level it should look? good. I like Sheetrock better for upstairs of a house the good thing is then you can paint it easily.

i'd just add more ceiling beams 1 every foot so just stick in a beam in between? each beam ya got there no need to add roof supports just make sure there anchored and that your load baring walls can handle the weight and it should be fine i'd think but i'm no carpenter.

Second post for sheetrock. Sheetrock would be my preference. Extend the common wall as same as I mentioned before.? Run 2"x4" joists perpendicular to bottom chord of trusses at 16" O.C. using metal joist hangers. Use 1/2" sheetrock because 3/8" will sag. Tape and texture should be done by pros. Not easy to master for DIYers. Blow in insulation. Old tiles hard to match if replaced after only a year or two. Lights are cheaper than 2'x4' drop in lights. Cost about $1.50 /sq. ft. w/ joists.

Extend the wall between units to roof w/ 5/8" fire rock both sides, insulate w/ R11. Suspended ceiling main runners should go perpendicular to the bottom? chord of the trusses at 4' on center, and 4' cross tees go the same direction as the bottom chord at 2' O.C. Insulate w/ 2'x4' R19 batts as you install the tiles. DIY= about $1.30/ sq. ft. Existing wall angle probably will not match new ceiling grid because of old paint etc. I was a commercial contractor 40 years and can help further.

I? would go with sheetrock for sure as for making them safe if you go with drop I would put a 1/2" plywood wal wall up on both sides this way if was to undo one side he would still be blocked from the other side to cover the void with the sheetrock go with crown molding it will hide it just right... No matter wich you choose good luck with it. Just remember there is always pros and cons to every choice you make.

where i am by code u need a fire block from unit to unit? witch means 5/8 fireblock sheetrock between the two units and u also need to separate the garage from the living area with a complete air tight separation for carbon monoxide and u can strap the truses with 1*3 and sheet rock that a truss is made to hold the weight new home r built with trusses and stapped and then drywalled if u do it this way just fill in the gap along the wall up to the ceiling

we have had issues keeping it rented this last year. We have gone to renting it by the week. We end up getting more per month that way? but the length of time they stay is less. Even with a lease. But renting it by the week means that it costs less for them to move in. Which makes it easier to rent. I have not been without a tenant for more than a week or 2. I even have had it rented before the others have moved out. LOL

I'd say yes, those trusses are stronger than you think, We did a ceiling tile installation? with a grid of 1x2 and staple the tongue and grove 12x12" ceiling tiles. The 1x2" grid provided the grid to hold the insulation on the top between the trusses. It's been about 10 years and still going strong in that rental.

Hey maybe run 2x4 from the top plates up the side of each truss to the top of the lower main beam and screw down at both points. Drywall and tape ceiling. Slap drywall and tape over the new studs to meet up the wall and ceiling all the way around. Finish off with some? nice crown moulding and spark a fat one bro. Good luck

no, the drill is a Craftsman 19.2 cordless. I got the 3/4 hole saw at wal mart. the items were; 1/2" cpvc pipe, a cpvc connector 1 male & 1 female, 2 ,45 degree fitting and 2 nipples.....oh and 2 cpvc end caps and some cpvc glue? and thats about it..good luck!

Im getting in the same situation myself with the nasty coop. Mine has a tin roof but is on a hillside so it gets really wet in there after a good rain. Just an idea and im gonna try it this year. My neighbor has a small pasture that he no longer has cattle on, so im gonna volunteer to cut it. Then rake up the clippings, which should be alot, and put them in the coop for flooring. This will not work well for winter but maybe it will build up enough to carry through the? winter.

You said that the coop was compacted with poo. Have you ever heard of using christmas tree limbs in? the coop? I've never tried it but I saw where they were used and the chickens loved it and the smell was down to nothing. In the spring you just rake it out. I don't know about how healthy it is for them but with it being all natural it might be an answer for winter coops, and the used christmas trees are free.

i suggest a big tarp as the roof for the whole thing not one of the cheapos but one of the heavy duty ones itl cost some money but last a long time. In most states a tarped structure isnt a taxable building its considered temporary even if it? is going to be there for a while if you have a pressure washer that is the way id go about cleaning the area. I would build it someplace else on the property if you can..to give this spot a chance to break down. We use straw bales in our runs. This way the ground doesn't get saturated with poo, you can rake it up after it breaks down and add it to the compost pile. Banks don't foreclose very quick. You have to be about 6 months behind before they start the process. It is not in their best interest to foreclose. From the looks of? the place when he started, it was not liveable anyway. I hope he does well. He obviously cares about the quality of his work and wants his tenants to have a decent place. The mil is not what is so important. That looks like regular 10 mil that you buy from the hardware store. Most commercial greenhouses only use 6 mil poly, but its UV? treated and generally will last 4+ years. I put it on both of mine, and its like night and day when comparing the 2 types of plastic. The cost of GH poly is a little bit higher, but well worth it. Some of the online suppliers sell "remnants", or "end cuts" that would cover yours with no problem. Just don't give up...ever.

Keep some herbs for cooking, hanging plants. they did not like the new one. Chickens are rather territorial and they will kill any newcomer. There are ways to avoid this but it is best to get all your chickens at the same time, and avoid adding new ones. Only ones that are grown from your current group. When you have babies and they are in a small enclosure like that remove the rooster.? To answer your other question They ALL DID IT.

Weasal would have killed all the chickens. They tend to only eat partial but kill for pleasure. Maybe a rat but I would think that many chickens in there would of killed the rat. Im thinking the other chickens killed it. Its normal for chickens to fight to create a pecking order and they? dont like new comers. my friend i have chikens and their is one thing that will do that crime and it will look the same every time, the mother f&#%ng rats they hunt unlike what we normaly think of them. I keep cats now never had a problem again. a wesle would do it but most likely take it whith him. good luck, I hope? that helps. p.s. when a chicken looks sick its most likely too late to do anythin but isolate it for they dont show sings of illnes till is to late. my best wishes.

I have put down regular oak flooring (a LOT of back-breaking work) and also that click-together laminate stuff. The laminate stuff was not only really simple to put in, but it has held up much better than the oak flooring. I had a rocking chair with wood runners on the laminate for? ages and used it a lot, and it never left a mark on the laminate stuff.

That is a way better answer! I made a tool box in HS and learned alot about being a carpenter. If I were to build one I wouldn't make it slide open. I would make it about 36" tall and have just a giant place on the bottom for big stuff like a saw and drop cords ,etc...with a top close lid for hand tools. glue everything and it will last for? a long time. you can do it!

I got the "Stanley Fat Max" at home ( $80) depot but, the other day the handle came out....I got? it back in but it doesn't slide like it did and is really a struggle to push up and down. i didn't over load it or muscle it....I am very easy on my tools and take great care of everything I have but this box just won't last to usual everday use. I only moved it like once a day and it only lasted around 2 months...don't buy this box...go to sears and see what they have. :)

very nice! I do plumbing though and in the future i would recommend 3 to 4 wraps of teflon tape and then on the outside of that some "pipe dope". It is usually used in the threads iron gas line pipe to seal it but since some of my co-workers told me to use it on water aswell I have pretty much never had a leak since! Its about 8$ a container and it will last your purposes pretty much indefinately. anyways hope that helps, cheers!?

Theres this stuff thats in a bottle, you just put it on a wash rag, wipe it on as if you are just? washing the wall, and when it drys, slap the paint color you want on. PS. I never use oil base paint for anything inside...It takes forever to dry and I smell the paint for months.

I thought they did pretty good! I gave them their deposit back...they cleaned and hauled all the trash and I would rent to them again....I try to think if it were? my family living there....my boys and i are rough on everything...plus we have 5 dogs...lol.....there is a check list I have for normal wear and tear and disruptive type abuse....I have the video update for you to check out my handy work posting tomorrow so tell me what you think!

Guess your going to have to tear down that ceiling. or skip tearing it down and you could cover the ceiling with more sheet rock and not tear it down. By nailing up 1x4s across the ceiling? every two or three foot then nail sheet rock right over the top of it.

It only took 2 years for them to lay waste? to that place?? I used to own rental properties. I kept MANY many deposits due to this sort of tenant. They leave places in crap condition and move onto some other unsuspecting landlord. Good luck on the fixup Rick! :)
