I saw B.B. play at the Concord Pavilion (now the Sleep Train Pavilion at Concord [stupidass name]) a while back, and what he had to say was more entertaining than the guitar licks he was playing. And this is coming from a guitarist who loves his playing. Seriously, the man is funny! It was like sitting around a table playing cards and drinking beer. He's given a lot of credit for being one of the first black musicians to cross over to white audiences, but in order to do? that, he had to have one hell of a show, which he did. And he had to have amazing soul in his playing, which he does. As I told another gentleman in these comments, see King's Live at the Regal for one of the high points in the blues. Also, having a video of yourself playing by yourself in your garage does not give you credibility. Knowing what you're talking about does.

i think you're making a mistake here. santana probably will beat King in terms of sped, but if you listen to santana live you'll notice he fucks up quite a lot of his own stuff. therefore i believe santana won't be able to beat BB King in preciscion. the way BB King plays his solo's is always spot on, even though? he plays on a different rhythm than his band. so i'd say santana and BB King are at most evenly matched :)

I'm back in a major blues phase after watching Music From the Big House by Rita Chiarelli. I'd never heard of her until I saw that documentary but she's pretty killer, definitely has that deep soulful voice that Hooker had. Hearing how all the heavywieghts of that era talk about her was nice, then I saw this ending on the T.Jones show, on this R.S special and It made me feel something. Exactly as Marshall said, but if you want a start, try playing minor over all the chords and adding some major on the root chord (A). Since this switching would be really tiring (and break the feeling of the thing), just try? adding some major notes over the minor scale on the A.

Just going to show you trailers do nothing. It was word of mouth that sold this picture. I remember because I went to see it when it came out! Nobody gave a flip about the trailer -? we all learned about it from people running up crazy-eyed breathing fast and grinning, asking, "OMG did you see The Blues Brothers yet?"
